Life of a Bus Passenger, Part 3

7 Jun

Last week there was a particularly busy day on the bus. The bus we take only goes through the city twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon, making it an express bus. Todd and I take the second, which comes anywhere from 7:30 to 7:45.

The earlier bus broke down one day last week making it so Todd and I could barely even make it onto the bus. We normally stand for the first half of the ride anyway so it wasn’t that much of a hassle; we just knew we would be standing for the whole ride instead.

As we neared downtown, it was obvious that people would have to squeeze off the bus, like toothpaste out of a tube. Todd and I, as well as others, were trying to make room as best we could but there’s only so much you can do without completely exiting the bus.

Then we hear, “MAKE WAY! COMING THROUGH!” shouted across the bus. Apparently, our friend, thought that it would be advantageous to yell to make sure that people would move out of her way.

As if a simple, “excuse me,” or even a well-mannered, “pardon me,” would not have done the job.
